Privacy Policy

ingogo takes your privacy seriously. Our Privacy Policy outlines the way that we manage your personal information. It is regularly reviewed and updated and all personal information held by ingogo will be governed by our most recent policy, published on this page (http://www.ingogo.mobi/privacy/). Please be aware ingogo may, at any time, review and update our Privacy Policy, so please check this page when you use the ingogo site or the ingogo app.

Scope of our Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy covers ingogo’s use of any personal information that ingogo collects when you are on ingogo sites, using ingogo applications and using ingogo’s services.

Google Play Store Permissions

ingogo understands that you value your privacy. When you download the ingogo app onto your phone, we do not access any of your private information, either your Contacts, your Photos or Media or any other personal information that is not provided directly to us or as otherwise explained below.

To provide the users of our app with a good experience we do use multiple features of the phone’s capabilities. That is why when you install the app you are asked to accept our use of these services. Below we have laid out how we use each feature within our app.

The Device Id – ingogo stores this against the passenger account. We do this as unfortunately there are criminal elements out there and we use this information to help track fraudulent users who may be using stolen credit cards. We do not otherwise use this information for tracking you.

The Contacts – ingogo does not access your personal contacts. Within the app there is the ability to allow you to Refer a friend, for which ingogo provides you credits for taxi travel when your friend that you have referred joins the service. To make this easy we allow you to select someone from your Contacts list when referring a friend. This is the only time where the ingogo app will interact with your Contacts list. We do not access it through any other means or in any other circumstances.

The Location: the ingogo app is a location aware app to assist with placing bookings and subsequent collections. Without this feature it doesn’t work. We do not use this for anything else.

The phone: the ingogo app allows you to call the driver. You can tap on an icon within the app to call your driver if and when you need to, for example, you are running late, or you are organising an easier pickup location. To support this, the app needs to be able to communicate with the phone function.

Photo/Media/Files: the ingogo app uses sounds and movements as part of the app to enhance the experience. Since our app uses audio and moving images, we need access to those functions of the phone that support this. This is why you see the request to access Photo/media/Files. We do not access your photo library or any other files that you have loaded onto your phone.

Device Identity: ingogo uses this to help with understanding where passengers have come across ingogo and downloaded the app from. It helps us to see if the app was downloaded as the consequence of someone seeing an advertisement on the web, or something similar. Unfortunately this phone feature is often bundled with the feature that allows access to your Call Information. ingogo does not access your Call Information at any point.

If you have any further queries or concerns please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to discuss.

What do we collect, how do we collect and use it and why?

The personal information ingogo collects and holds is what is reasonably necessary for our business functions and activities, and to enable you to use ingogo’s applications and services.

When you register with ingogo, as a user on the ingogo website or application, when you use certain ingogo services and when you enter promotions or competitions we generally ask for your name, email address and mobile number.

We may use this information to send you direct marketing communications and information to keep you updated on our progress or to provide you with promotions in relation to your use of our service. This may be in the form of an SMS or email. You may opt-out of receiving marketing communications from us at any time by contacting us (details below) or by using the opt-out facilities provided (e.g. an unsubscribe link). We will then ensure that your name is removed from our mailing list. We do not provide your personal information to other organisations for the purposes of direct marketing unless expressly authorised by you.

Once you register with ingogo and sign in to our services, you are not anonymous to us. We do this to ensure taxi drivers receive genuine and valid taxi booking requests. When you make a taxi booking, ingogo will request your pickup and drop off address locations and these will be stored with your ingogo profile and booking records. We also log your GPS location when you make a booking (if you approve to provide this information via your computer or mobile device during booking), and also when you are picked up and dropped off (via your and the driver’s application) and will store these as part of the booking record and your profile. We use this information to assist in investigating your and your taxi driver’s complaints and enquiries.

ingogo will share your name and mobile number with the driver who has been allocated your booking in order to allow the driver to communicate directly with you and increase the chances of a successful pick-up.

We also keep a record of your billing information to allow you to make quick taxi payments with your ingogo registered payment method or card and to charge the taxi fare and associated fees to your ingogo account. ingogo uses this information to fulfil your taxi booking requests, to validate when taxi trips booked via ingogo have actually taken place and if they were completed correctly, to provide a log of the trips for safety and security, and to match payments against trip information in case of a credit card or other dispute.

ingogo also automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, ingogo cookie information and the page you requested. ingogo uses this information to ensure that we have optimised our site to perform correctly, to improve ease of use and to gain general information about how our services are being used.

Cookies

ingogo may set and access ingogo cookies on your computer. Other companies do not have access to ingogo’s cookies.

When might we disclose your personal information?

ingogo will not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.  ingogo will only share your personal information with other companies or people when:

  • we have your consent to share the information;
  • we need to share your information in order to provide a product or service you have requested, for example to despatch a taxi to you or to allow the allocated driver to contact and locate you to ensure a successful pick-up;
  • we need to send the information to companies that work on behalf of, or in conjunction with, ingogo to provide a product or service to you. (Unless we tell you differently, these companies do not have any right to use the personal information we provide to them beyond what is necessary to assist us);
  • you use ingogo through a corporate account, in which case we may share your information with your employer;
  • we respond to subpoenas, court orders or legal process or as otherwise permitted by law; or
  • we find that your actions on our websites violate ingogo terms of service or any of our usage guidelines for specific products or services.

How do we hold your personal information?

Personal information we hold is generally stored in our secure databases. These may be operated by us or by our service providers. Where these service providers are cloud-based, such as Google or Amazon Web Services, the information may be located overseas. It is not, however, disclosed to any offshore service providers. In addition, in all cases we have rigorous information security requirements aimed at eliminating risks of unauthorised access to, and loss, misuse or wrongful alteration of, personal information.

Your ingogo Account Information is password-protected for your privacy and security. In certain areas ingogo uses industry-standard SSL-encryption to protect data transmissions. ingogo strives to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of personal information of our customers. We use a variety of physical and electronic security measures including restricting physical access to our offices and firewalls and secure databases to keep personal information secure from misuse, loss or unauthorised use or disclosure. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure.

Steps you can take to improve security

You as an individual are responsible for the security of and access to your own computer and mobile device.

It is recommended you apply a PIN number to your mobile device to prevent access to the device if it’s lost or stolen.

If you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or internet cafe, do not save your password in the browser.

Remember to close your browser when you have finished your user session. This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information.

If your mobile device or computer is stolen you should also notify ingogo so we may block your user account and allow you to change your password.

How can you enquire about, access and correct your personal information?

You have a right to access and correct personal information we hold about you (except in limited circumstances recognised by law). To request access, please contact our Privacy Officer at one of the contact points below.
